You Love LBI... So Do We!!
A Museum Created by the People, for the People!
The LBI Historical Museum, one of the largest museums in Ocean County, is home to over 5,000 artifacts. However, the most significant artifact—often overlooked—is the building itself.
Constructed in 1882, this historic structure is nearly 150 years old. Originally serving as Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, it was acquired by the LBI Historical Association in 1975 with the mission of preserving its legacy and transforming it into a museum for future generations.

Your Donation Helps Us...
1
Maintain the Museum & Fisherman's Cottage
As historic buildings, the LBI Historical Museum and Fisherman’s Cottage must adhere to the standards set by the Historic Preservation Commission, ensuring both preservation and
compliance with building codes. Historic assessments are regularly performed on the buildings in order to manage the safety and integrity of these valuable properties.
2
Technology Upgrades & Maintenance
As technology evolves, so do the expectations of museum visitors. Today, more than ever, people seek interactive experiences that deliver information quickly and engagingly. To ensure the museum remains a valuable resource for future generations, we must continually update our
technology to meet the needs and interests of our community.

Educational
Programs
At its core, every museum exists to educate and share knowledge. As we look to the future, expanding our educational programs is a top priority. Strengthening connections with schools, business groups, social organizations, andprograms like Scouting will be essential to ensuring the museum’s long-term success and community impact.
